Map of Africa

Topic

In 1984 the National Council for Geographic Education developed the five themes of geography. The five
themes are the following: Location, Place, Movement, Human-Environment Interaction and Region. Using the five themes of geography as your focus for research, you will explore the continent of Africa. Africa is a unique and fascinating continent; it is a mix of many different cultures found within the many nations that comprise Africa. Within Africa can be found almost every form of government, religion, and geographic region. These factors have served to make Africa one of the most diverse continents on earth. Because Africa has so much diversity in culture and geography it has always been a favorite destination for travelers.

Process

1. Create a power point document. You may choose one slide design for your powerpoint. Do not spend more than two
minutes deciding on your slide design. On the first slide include the following:

Name, Period, and Name of your assigned African Country (example)

2. Save your powerpoint. You should name your file using the following format:

Period-Your First and Last Name (Example: A-LarryBarlow)

You should save your file in "Middle School Common " in Mr. Barlow's Folder.

MAKE SURE YOU CONTINUE TO SAVE EVERY 10 MINUTES!!!!!!!!

3. Create a slide (or two) where you will define each of the five themes of geography.
Under the resources link you will find a web page link that will help you for this slide.
Make sure you put the definitions into your own words.

4. Create at least one slide for each of the following themes of geography:

Location
Place
Region
Movement
Human-Environment Interaction

*Each theme needs to have three bullets of information that connects your country to each particular theme
*Each theme needs two pictures that provide exaples to what you are talking about

5. Create a bibliography slide. On this slide, any website (or other place where you got info) you used must be listed on
the bibliography slide. Just paste the link to the website you used on this page, even if you used just the sites I gave you
your resource list. Remeber we use the MLA Citation method.

6. Check over your work. Make sure you do the following:

Proof-read, spell check, make sure you have followed all directions, make sure you have completed all of the requirements and save in the correct location!
